Preventing UTIs

Urgh. I am menopausal and use vaginal estrogen to fight atrophy. Before starting the cream I had very frequent UTIs. Have been mostly ok on the cream but now on second UTI since October.

i will be seeing GP to see if I need to be using cream more frequently, or a stronger cream. And I know I don’t drink enough water. But are the d mannose and other similar “cystitis prevention “ tablets any good? I’m not keen on the sachets.

You will need the pessaries as well, vagifem twice a week at least. They are a different kind of estrogen than the cream and are stronger. I had the same problem for years but it's much better now after 5 years on vagifem. However I've had to give up bubble baths and be careful with sex, washing before and after, as I can still occasionally get uti s. Best of luck, it's horrible when you're suffering.
