Can anyone recommend an app for tracking periods on the coil? on

Most apps that track periods require you to say what day in your cycle you are on. I haven’t had a period for years so I don’t have a number but could still benefit tracking for moods/brain-fog etc. Anyone got any ideas on how best to do this?

I use an app called 'period tracker by GP apps'. You just tap it on the day that your period starts and it registers it from then and there is a notes section and symptoms tracker. I don't bother to check how long it lasts, I just keep a vague eye on my cycles in the hope that I will know if there are any perimenopausal changes.

Ah just reread and I see what you actually want to use it for. It has a calendar feature so I think you could probably try this by just tapping on the day and marking your symptoms. It wouldn't necessarily do the period tracking for you but you would have a record. I think it's free so worth a try

All of the tracker apps depend on you having vaguely regular bleeds.

If you're not bleeding they won't work

If you knew when you ovulated you could theoretically try to track that but the apps aren't set up for that really. Especially with the hormonal coil which can (but not always) stop you ovulating. Added to the fact on e you become perimenopausal you may not be ovulating regularly.

Could you try just marking in your calender any symptoms and see if they are cyclical after a couple of months?

Plus pretty much all these apps are owned/funded by ultra RW Christian conservative groups in America. Personally I'm not keen on the idea of them having access to my reproductive history.

Would the Balance app work? It’s designed for peri/meno information but I find it really helpful for period tracking. You literally just click on the date and whether you had spotting/light/medium/heavy/very heavy bleeding. And there is room for notes too. There’s also the option of tracking mood and symptoms, as well as food, sleep and activity, should that be relevant for you.

I use the cycle tracker in the health section of iPhone. You can log anything without having to log period dates.

This is such a good question and I don't think enough apps actually address this properly.
For coil users who don't have regular periods or any periods at all, most standard tracking apps fall apart because they're built around a predictable cycle — which isn't your reality at all.
