Is this a prolapse?

Hi, I’m really worried I’ve got a prolapse.

There’s a bulge I can see in my vagina and when I hear down it prodrudes right down to the entrance.

it’s just a kind of round, pink lump and I’m wondering if it’s either my urethra or cervix.

I’ve never taken much notice of stuff down there so I wouldn’t know.

I can put a finger in my vagina and this lump doesn’t block it, my finger just goes in kin of under it, like where’s tampon would be inserted, that area is still just a tube.

Im not good at anatomy, but if it was the cervix / uterus would that not sort of be blocking that path?

so does that suggest it’s more likely to be urethral / bladder prolapse?

i am 40 and have had two vaginal births, last one being 7 years ago.

I will make a doctors appointment as soon as I can, just feeling so worried and upset Sad

It sounds like a prolapse, make a GP appointment. Also ask them to refer you to the women's health physiotherapist. They are often very good.

Is it on the front wall or back wall, it sounds like a prolapse. You can Google and there are diagrams to identify which sort.

Thank you Sad

I’ve had a look at diagrams online but I’m just not sure. I wish I’d paid more attention to down there before.

i think it’s on the front wall. My finger can go in my vagina and the perineum area would be below and the bulge would be above .

Does that sound like bladder prolapse?

Sounds like a uterus prolapse not obvs I’m not medically trained and can’t see it.

Obviously the doctor will let you know / refer you on…

Hey! I have this too but got it checked and it's normal and not a prolapse. Everyone's anatomy down there is slightly different - the most important thing for you to know is that if it isn't affecting your life then it's not worth worrying about. Please don't worry! There's a lot of scaremongering online

@Lovemykids29thank you so much for your reply; I feel a lot better now.

Could you see something move when you would bear down?

I suppose it still might be a prolapse, but thank you for reminding me that everybody’s body is different - you’re right. I just wish I’d paid more attention to down there before so I knew what it was like before!

I looked down there when I was pregnant with my first and saw a red bulge and totally panicked.

I went to see the midwife who examined me and said it was nothing / nothing there.

I guess whether it is or isn’t a prolapse you are right that I’m not having any real problems.

The reason I looked was that I had a strange feeling in my urethra when trying to pee last week. Felt like it was blocked. I’ve never had a kidney stone but I wondered if it was that.

I then had a few days of peeing a lot more frequently and just strange feeling. So I looked and was worried about prolapse. But I then thought maybe UTI. So I went to pharmacist and got 3 days of trimethaprim, and the strange feeling I had seems to have gone.

I don’t feel like I’m sitting on a ball, or feel like something is falling out, or feel a dragging feeling, or lower back pain etc. So if it is a prolapse hopefully it’s mild.

i don’t jump on trampolines or anything though, and I think when I once did, a few years ago, it did feel strange so I quickly stopped!

Honestly it sounds like you are fine

Do your pelvic floor exercises, stay hydrated and remember it feels different down there at different points in our cycle

It is all ok, now focus on whatever brings you joy!
