Ringworm is a fungal infection. They’re not actually worms, although maybe it was just a typo.

CarrieMoonbeams · 07/01/2026 21:12

I have porokeratosis, but it's hard to tell from your photo if it's the same thing as you have. Maybe have a little Google and see if that looks/sounds like the same sort of thing?

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/01/2026 21:13

How long been there? What body part is it on? Are they itchy?

it’s difficult to tell from the photo as can’t tell the colour or texture.

Caffeinelover01 · 07/01/2026 21:18

It’s on my neck like above my collar bone .. and no they are not itchy at all.. I had 1 a couple months ago now haw a few!

Try an anti fungal like clotrimazole and see if it clears them up. If not I’d make an appointment with the surgery.

landlordhell · 07/01/2026 21:21

Looks like it could be fungal. Try a cream .

TeaRoseTallulah · 09/01/2026 00:07

Looks exactly like a fungal infection - ringworm. Show the pharmacist.

Caffeinelover01 · 09/01/2026 11:58

Is this like Richard Bucket having “gout” instead of athlete’s foot? Because it looks exactly like ringworm!

landlordhell · 09/01/2026 16:35

Is it Pityriasis versicolor ?

vjg13 · 09/01/2026 16:38

Anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of Pityriasis versicolor? My daughter has tried the suggested shampoo, sprays and creams and oral anti fungals.

See the GP if those haven't worked.

Has she been leaving the shampoo suds on her skin for long enough or just washing with it? It needs time to work, so you lather up and wait for a few minutes (it's in the instructions, I can't remember how many!) before rinsing.

Caffeinelover01 · 09/01/2026 16:51

It’s tinea versicolor x

@NeedForSpeedyGonzales I’ll suggest she tries the shampoo again. The oral anti fungals were prescribed by the GP and also didn’t work.

My DD had it ( in her 20s). She kept up the shampoo and it eventually went .I think the marks stay for a while after. So it was a few months of exfoliation etc she switched to Head and Shoulders in the end as that was cheaper and she’d heard it was as good.
