Feeling itchy all over - hormonal?

notimpressedatm · 28/12/2025 22:13

I often feel itchy all over - legs, arms, stomach, back, feet… everywhere! Usually at night in the second half of my cycle.

It’s driving me mad and I’m not sure what to do. I don’t think it’s allergies and I use cream but it makes no difference.

What is this, has anyone experienced the same?

I’d try taking an antihistamine and see if it helps.

Yes, I get it a lot around timings in my cycle. I take an over the counter anti-histamine. It find it gets worse in winter too. It lasts a few days and then I'm fine. Very frustrating.

I had horrendous facial skin itching until going into HRT.

TheThingOnTheIce · 28/12/2025 22:19

I had this . Realised I’d developed an aversion to red wine

Nomorecoconutboosts · 28/12/2025 22:23

I have it when I am extremely tired for me it is a sign I need to go to bed. Itching is the worst on my back and legs/feet.
A cool fresh cotton night shirt helps a little. My skin isn’t dry.

I get this if I take Codiene

cleowasmycat · 28/12/2025 22:26

How old are you?

userxx · 28/12/2025 22:31

Me! I’m 50 and peri. I think it’s quite a common symptom but it drives me mad, I have to get out of bed and give myself a good scratch.

NCTDN · 28/12/2025 22:32

Me too! I wake up scratching in the night - especially my calves and under my boobs.

wannanamechange · 28/12/2025 22:33

This is one of my main perimenopause symptoms

cleowasmycat · 28/12/2025 22:39

If it’s peri then it’s called Formication and is caused by lack of oestrogen. Can be relieved with HRT

LucyC1992 · 29/12/2025 14:20

oh bless you that sounds absolutely maddening. hormones definitely play a huge part as they make your skin so much more reactive in that second half i found that my skin just couldn't tolerate the dust mites in the bed during that week even if i was fine the rest of the month
