Hearing aid batteries

Does anyone know where you can get multiple sets of hearing aid batteries?
Everywhere I try gives you one or at the most 2packs
i have 2 hearing aids so it’s a painting keep going back every couple of days for more
I’ve looked online as advised by audiologist but they pretty expensive

Where did you get your hearing aids? Dh got his from specsavers and they gave free batteries for 3 years I think it was until he got rechargeable aids. They always gave them to him in bulk so maybe they sell them that way too? I will caveat and say we are in Ireland where you get free government funded hearing aids from specsavers so I'm not sure how it works in the UK.

Are your aids NHS? It will help to know.

On the assumption they are NHS & you’re using batteries in an orange packet, Rayovac size 13, each battery should last at least 2 weeks, for all day every day use. Mine do and are digital NHS. Excellent quality sound.

When you take them out before bed, make sure you turm them off. Open the battery door and leave it open.

If your aids are private, and you can tell us the brand or make, others will be along soon to offer advice. If you’ve fallen in to the private trap good luck with that. It’s presumably how they make their money on aftercare consumables.

I think you need to return to audiology yet again. There’s something draining your batteries given mine last at least 2 weeks in each aid.
As above, make sure you put them into dormant mode every single time you take them out.

Two weeks per pack?? Mine don’t do anything like that. The left one in particular is 3 days at most

How many packs do they let you guys have via NHS? It’s such a faff every time, and now I’ve increased my hours at work I’m trying to reduce my errands (not to mention parking costs for trips to fetch batteries)!

OK, sounds good. I’m shortly getting new NHS aids so I’ll make sure I don’t get replacements that use Rayovac 312 type batteries! It must be so tedious changing them all the time.

I’m happy to change them, and carry spares. It’s because they won’t allow any more than 1 or 2 packs at a time. Goodness knows what else they think I’m doing with them!!

Two packs only at the hospital. GP hasn't had them for years now.

I have phonak Bluetooth NHS hearing aids in both ears and wear them 16 hours out of 24 and they last 4 days. I rang the audiologist dept at our local hospital they post two packs out. I wish they’d send more though as they soon seem to run out.
I’d make an appointment there’s something not right.

I’m hopping on only because of a conversation the other day between dd and her grandma. DD works at the community hub and grandma is the hearing aid user. As part of her job DD does the exchanges for the local NHS users and they seem to get about a month’s worth of batteries. That may be because it’s a rural community so it’s a faff getting into town. DD also told grandma that our NHS trust is changing the batteries they supply to ones that last longer, and are easier to physically change. Grandma was very pleased about this.

Finding this interesting. DH has just got hearing aids for the first time, NHS ones. He has a bag full of packs of batteries which his leaflet says should last a full year and he has an email address to get the next year worth.

Oooh wonder if they’d post me some?that’ll get expensive tho for them?
I’ll ring them in new year, though they tend to think I’ve got all day everyday to “just pop in” 🙄

I keep going to the hospital and only buy in dire emergencies as the costs mount up. NHS would save a lot of money if they gave us chargeable aids
Like pp I'm surprised you get through batteries so quickly though. Might be worth your while to make an appt with the audiologist to have the aids checked and discuss your battery usage.

I get a boxful from the hospital originally, now Specsavers. Specsavers do NHS hearing aids in the UK too.

We get a box at a time from the audiology dept at our local hospital. I'm not sure how long batteries last - less than two weeks but definitely longer than the OP is experiencing.

Are your aids Bluetooth enabled OP? When DD got her first Bluetooth aids we noticed she was getting through batteries far more quickly than before

My hearing aids are the same as PP (sorry can’t quote I’m on phone). Similar usage (3-4 days)

Mine last about 8 days.

You can buy boxes from Specsavers think there’s 8 packs in a box for £10.99

In my area I can have batteries sent to me from the hospital. I send them a self addressed envelope for return.

There’s also an NHS walk in centre in my city High Street where I can pick up batteries as well as M&S (free NHS) in the High Street as well as lots of other places in town.

Maybe I’m blessed in my area for NHS battery outlets.

If you’re on Facebook join your local town group and put up a local plea for advice about your particular aids. You might get more & knowledgeable advice from local folks.

I don’t use the Bluetooth much tbh. I’m not entirely sure what I’m supposed to be connecting to. The app doesn’t really do much as far as I can tell
