Breast lump ultrasound

Hi all

I found a breast lump a few weeks ago, small hard and pip like. Not long had a baby and am breastfeeding, the lump didn’t change much so I went to the GP and was referent to the breast clinic on the 2 WW but dr said not on the cancer pathway.

The dr felt it once there and was pretty silent which really worried me then said ‘it might be lobular tissue’ (I think) and then sent me for an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech scanned thoroughly including asking me to put my finger on it and rolling the ultrasound machine over. She said it just looks like fibrous breast tissue and maybe some fluid. I was so relieved but now keep feeling like I’m having doubts and worries. The lump is very palpable, hard and small and I can still feel it. I asked her why I could feel it so much and she said breast tissue can be hard esp during breastfeeding if pockets of fluid collect.

I keep telling myself they do this every day for a living and if she could see something it would be obvious, wouldn’t it? I’m 36 so too young for a mammogram. Maybe this is just my anxiety.

Has anyone else had something similar where they could feel a lump but it was just fibrous tissue?

Yes, exactly the same, twice. I have very fibrous breasts x

3 times in my 20s.

Thank you that’s reassuring @MinnieMountain @violetcuriosity

Were yours small and hard? Did they go eventually? My stomach drops everytime I touch mine.

I've still got 1 OP. It's small, hard and not a problem in any way so the doctor decided to leave it.

I had this several times in my 20s and 30s and once when breastfeeding.

I have also had breast cancer. Believe me when I tell you that the ultrasound techs know cancer when they see it, and if it was cancer they would have done a biopsy there and then.

Totally agree with @SewingBees

I had breast cancer five years ago. Then a couple of years ago found a lump as you described. They gave me an ultrasound the same day. It was nothing to worry about and I still feel it every day.

I know it’s easy to say, but try not to worry. They know their stuff. And congratulations on your baby.

Thank you so much for your messages, you’ve all made me feel really reassured. I will try and push this out my mind. My anxiety is v high at the moment, blaming my hormones.

I hope you’re both doing well now @SewingBees @Anewuser
have a lovely Christmas x
