Anyone had this before?

I am wondering if I should wait and see about this before I freak out and go straight to the doctor and was wondering if anyone has had anything similar.

Yesterday morning I had sex, no issues and I don’t even know if it is related. Today I woke up and noted lots of blood in the toilet (vaginal, not in my urine) but my period isn’t due for another week. In saying that, they have been getting earlier and earlier and I have just started on Citalopram so I am wondering if this has something to do with it. I think I could handle it if it was just an early period but the amount of blood mixed with the fact that it now seems to have tapered off is worrying me. Not sure I would even call it post coital bleeding considering it was 24 hours later?!

I’m not on any birth control and periods are usually fairly regular.

I would go to the GP. I had a period of bleeding after sex and had a polyps which was removed during a day surgery, had more frequent smears for a couple of years.

More recently my periods are less predictable due to perimenopause.
