Iron supplements and long menstrual periods!

Whenever I take ferrous sulphate for anaemia I suffer from two week long periods! I know it is the cause as whenever I stop taking they return to normal. Does anyone else get this and can I do anything about it apart from stopping taking them?
I know there is a scientific study showing there is no link between heavier periods and iron supplements but Im very sure that this is the cause of my extended bleeding.

Are you 100% positive it isn’t your age/ start of peri? I only ask because I swore blind that taking an iron supplement was causing me to have longer cycles/skip periods. After I stopped taking it, periods went back to normal and I thought That proves it. But then three months later my periods went haywire again so it wasn’t the iron tablets at all. I was only mid thirties so I was worried and went to the gp about it. I even got referred to a gynae unit. Consensus was it was just peri starting and this was my “new normal” for now. They were right.
