“Thickened cervix”

This is how the gynae described my cervix today. They said it is common due to hormones, childbirth etc, but I cannot find anything online about this.

I’ve been referred for colposcopy due to this and a ectropion as I’m already on the urgent pathway because I went to the GP after a one off significant post sex bleed. I had an internal scan which was normal and HPV negative smears for at least the last 10 years with the last one being 8 months ago. Nurse that initially examined me wasn’t concerned

I’ve two littles and absolutely shitting myself. has anyone heard this terminology before re “thickening” - she’s definitely referring to the cervix, not endometrium.

Otherwise she said everything looks fine!

It seems that you have health anxiety, OP?

I’ve been through something similar on 2WW path recently, it’s scary but there is a 99% chance of it being anything other than malignant with negative HPV and coupled with having clear internal scan you basically have a much less chance of anything serious than than the average woman walking around without a care in the world. You can rest easy.

I’m on the urgent suspected cancer pathway, of course I’m anxious!
