Perimenopause???

Hi all
I'm trying to find some advice around perimenopause symptoms.
I am 42
Period lasted 10 days instead of 5 and last day wasn't brown like it normally is.
I've just noticed darker than normal discharge and it appears to be very dark brown and watery internally (sorry for TMI) this means I'm now 7 days early and an 18 day cycle as I've logged it as a period. Never had this happen before. Does anyone have any experience with perimenopause symptoms being similar? Could this be the reason?
I know dark blood isn't normally a concern but I am a bit confused and wondering if I should be concerned. Thank you for reading

Could well be the start of peri.

You might find your next few periods are normal, then a weird one again. And rinse and repeat.

Thank you. I'll continue to track things as I don't want to contact the GP unnecessarily. They say to contact if anything is abnormal, but I suppose this could be 'normal'??!

If you're in pain or having really bad PMT type symptoms or other weird things going on then yes, get in touch with your GP so they can rule out anything else. Other than that, just track/monitor as you are doing. A weird period is the least complicated thing about perimeno. It's just a sign that things are starting to change and your body's adjusting to it.

All I would suggest is make sure you have period products and a spare pair of underwear with you at all times. Once periods start being a bit erratic they can happen any time, any place, anywhere, anyhow.

Thanks. It's like it's the end of my old period but delayed. Or it could be the start of my next one being 7 days early??! Having a 10 day period is unusual for me and an early one is also unusual. Maybe it's the start?! I'll keep monitoring it. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else as a symptom. Thank you
