Ryeqo....... side effects

Hey
Anyone got any experience of Ryeqo?
I've been on it since end of May to help with Endometriosis.... before that I was on Zoladex for nearly 2 years & I've tried everything else for it over the course of the last 15 years.... oh the joy of Endo.

Anyway I managed pretty well with the side effects of Zoladex but Consultant was keen to get me on Ryeqo as the new all singing all dancing treatment and the answer to avoiding surgery etc. However, I am struggling with what I believe to be side effects and/or symptoms of the artificial menopause this delightful drug throws you into.

I have detailed what I'm suffering with at the min and I know the obvious is to speak to Consultant but I'm currently waiting for my 6 monthly appt coming through and just w anted to see if anyone else has had the same with this as it is a new medication.

  • Headaches
  • Anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Night Sweats
  • loss of libido (hubbys fuming)
  • Mood Swings
  • I'm an emotional wreck half the time
  • Insomnia

@Boymummy2015 How did you get on?
my gynaecologist wants me to swap from Zoladex to Ryequo.

or if anyone else on Ruequo is reading this, I'd be glad of your opinion

Hi @Glitterbiscuits
For me it hasn't been great. I'm still on it currently whilst my Gynae is reviewing some recent scans and tests. Obviously I don't know how extensive your Endo is or if you have had recent surgery to remove it etc..... from my experience with hormone treatment it has always worked on me better just after excision surgery.

Ryeqo for me has caused....

  • flare up of pain gradually returning
  • twice monthly bleeding (3 months after I started on it)
  • anxiety (this is the worst side effect for me personally)
  • headaches

However, it's also become apparent that I have quite alot going on in there with cysts and a mass plus bladder involvement maybe I haven't had the best response due to all of this. The trials seemed to be very positive.

How have you been on Zoladex? I found this to be brilliant for me, side effects aside as they were rough to begin with but once they settled it was great...... I did a straight swap from Zoladex to Ryeqo and the first 3 months other than the odd headache I was great but then it has got gradually worse since. I personally don't feel Ryeqo is strong enough to suppress my Endo now.

I will be having more surgery but unsure on the level of this just yet until I have my follow up with Consultant.

I’m starting year 3 with Zoladex. I have add back HRT and I find it brilliant.
I dont want to swap but the gynaecologist doesn’t want me to stay on it.

@Glitterbiscuits Similar to me then, I was on Zoladex for over 2 years with add back and like you found it brilliant. I feel Ryeqo is being forced on us a little if I'm honest. You have to do what you feel is best for you and not what the gynea pushes. Have you asked if you can go back to Zoladex if Ryeqo isn't for you? I have asked the question but feel I get fobbed off abit with it like they maybe don't know the answer yet....
