That’s it really - I’m having the ablation this week and REALLY REALLY need stories to reassure me as I am considering faking my own death to not do it! Please help.

My DH had this the other week. He was in and out and was fine. Bit bruised and sore the first day and the bandage was annoying but he was fine. Good luck. I hope it goes well

It's a great treatment! The vein is totally gone, with no scarring.

I was very very nervous beforehand but needn't have been. They have to tell you all the risks of infection etc beforehand, because every type of procedure has risks. I think it's very low risk though.

it's a good time of year to have it done because my vascular surgeon told me to completely avoid all UV rays on the leg for quite a long time (6 weeks???) to avoid scarring. So I had to wear multiple leggings (had it done in baking hot summer) to cut out all sun.

I have to say that I had sedation so can't remember the procedure at all. I've heard some people only get local anaesthetic.

good luck - you'll be fine!
