Red Cervix

I’ve had negative smear tests -last one was 2 years ago. I had some slight spotting mid cycle so went to the drs. She said my cervix is red and has done the 2 week referral. She swabbed me, but then they got lost, so 4 days later I had it done again and this time I’m bleeding heavily. I’m not due on. I’m now absolutely terrified. I’ve never bled after a smear test. Does anyone have any tho g positive to keep me going. I’m 49 with young children. Recently had internal and ovaries are fine, bladders fine etc. I know no one can really reassure me, but if you have a positive story, I would really appreciate hearing it. Thank you .

hey, not sure if this is this same thing, but i had bleeding between my periods, and had a cervical ectropion (which would appear as red). It's just the cells from inside your cervix grow a little on the outside as well. I was assured this was nothing to worry about and it cleared up on its own, it just makes the blood vessels a little closer to the surface and so they're more likely to bleed. hope yours is just the same as mine.

Heavy bleeding after a swab can be normal; most results are fine. Stay calm and follow up with your doctor.
