Day 10 of period can I take these tablets?

I'm on day 10 of my period.
I'm waiting on gyne since April because of bleeding in between periods.

I went to the GP on Thursday because my hair has been shedding a lot and I wondered if I'm low on iron again as I was earlier in the year and my periods have been very heavy and passing big clots.

He's given me Transexamic tablets for the bleeding and said to ring gyne and chase them up as this is getting bad. I've tried but the line is just busy constantly.

The Transexamic tablets say to start them at the start of menstration. Does that mean I can't take them now to stop the bleeding? I have to wait until the next period?

I think I'm very anemic, I haven't been well anyway this week due to a cold but I'm getting very out of breath doing the smallest things.

Next set of bloods are not until the end of the month.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Thanks for reading.

I'd start taking them as they're supposed to help lessen the bleeding
