Stopping Depo-Provera

Hi! I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience of coming off the depo jab after long term use? I’ve been on it for about 8 years, with a small break during Covid when I tried to use the DIY sayana press jab but was unsuccessful so went back on to it. I am 41, long term single and not into casual hook ups so am seriously considering coming off of it to give my body a chance to get back to ‘normal’ as I’ve been on some form of hormonal contraception since age of about 15….pill, implant for several years and then depo. I’ve googled and came across a Reddit thread about people’s experiences after stopping but I just wondered if any of the wonderful ladies of Mumsnet have any experiences of stopping it and can tell me what I might be able to expect as my body rids itself of artificial hormones! Mood swings/did it affect your sleep /weight loss or gain etc. I’m currently trying to lose weight but unfortunately not eligible for the jabs as I’m T1D so if stopping is going to cause weight gain then I think I’d rather stay on it (but I’m aware everyone is different)! Thanks in advance! X
