Unusual period

Hello,

This is my first time posting and not sure I'm in the right place!

My partner and I are both 39 and TTC. I came off the pill in May and so far cycles have been regular 31-33 days and 3 day periods.

I've just had a longer and slightly lighter period of 5/6 days which was stop/start in the middle. Now two days later and its started up again but completely brown.

I suppose my question is if anyone has had similar experience? I'm thinking cysts or perhaps peri.

Thank you 🙏

If you're actively TTC there's a chance it could be an implantation bleed - I experienced this in my last preganancy, I genuinely thought I'd had an unusual period and then got a positive pregnancy test a week or so later.

Brown discharge is normal on a period, it's normally taking longer to leave the uterus and pass through the vagina, it has more time to oxidise, so turns brown. It is most common at the beginning or end of a period when flow is lighter and slower.

It may also be as PP suggested an implantation bleed, which is common, it could also be thicker as it can combine with cervical mucus etc.

If it comes with a smell or lots of pain, then maybe just get it checked out, it could be an infection. But otherwise it's fine. Maybe see if your next period comes or not, or take a test in a week or 2.

Thank you both for your replies. No pain or smell so hopefully not an infection 🤞

I'd thought of implantation bleeding but it was bright red to start with so ruled that out. Will wait a week and see how I go and test then. It seems to have stopped again now 🤷‍♀️ x
