Massage therapy.

So I have quite a physical job, I'm a carer and often have to do heavy lifting. As I've got a bit older (I'm late 30s now) I find I sometimes have aches and pains from work. An older colleague of mine recommended regular massages and I enquired at the place she goes.

Apart from being quite expensive (I was recommended the full body massage) the only massage therapist they have available at the moment is male ( the female on is on maternity leave).

I'm not very clued up on this sort of thing, so I'd really like to know what a full body massage consists of exactly? How naked would I have to be and exactly how much of my full body will this guy be massaging? I want it to be relaxing and so don't want to be worrying about how much I'm showing a male stranger, or what to say if he asks me questions about what I want done etc.

I know it's just fear of the unknown and that it'll all be fine, but forewarned is forearmed so I'd like to know your knowledge and wisdom.

If you're unsure you can check out other therapists in your area and then find their reviews. Ask on Facebook, too.

For full body you are typically only in your pants. The therapist will use a big towel so most of you is covered at any given time, but it is inevitably intimate and I wouldn’t be able to relax with a man doing it.

I have regular Thai massages and the woman there gets into my bum cheeks and quite close to my groin on my hips.

i pay £55 for an hour long full body which is good value where I am

Blimey that does sound quite intimate. I was quoted £65 also for an hour.

Thanks. Trouble is this place is the only show in town. The next place as far as I can see is about 15 miles away in the next town, and I don't drive. Sadly I don't have the time to get the bus there, have an hour's massage and then get the bus back.

How much of you do you want to have massaged? You’re in charge of your body, so if you need to have a chat up front with them about exactly what you need and how you want it done, you’re allowed! It isn’t like to have to pick a fixed product off the shelf.

If you’re unsure about whole body, maybe you could start with just a neck/back/shoulder massage (this would usually be topless, lying on your front on the table, with a towel covering your bottom half, and you could ask them not to go below a certain point to keep you comfortable).
