Endometriosis or something else

I'm being investigated for endometriosis. These are a few of my symptoms that are linked to my cycle...
Pelvic pain, achey pubic bone as if it's badly bruised, shooting leg pains, stabbing and shooting rectal pains etc.
I have been referred for a diagnostic lap.

Today I am on day 1 of my period. I'm having the usual pains however, I also have severe sharp back pain on one side that is catching me when I move in a certain position or if I'm walking, it feels like when this pain catches me, I also have deep pelvic pain that side and feels like it's pulling on my ovary on that side too and the pain is going down that leg too. I am in agony with it and keep crying. Mefanamic acid isn't touching it.

Could this be linked or could it be something else?

What are your periods like? Heavy? Do you get clotting or just a heavy flow?

Daisy2206 · 15/10/2025 16:00

@Comefromaway Heavy and clotting but not bigger than 50p

That sounds awful OP it drives me mad that they haven’t put the research into endometriosis. It doesn’t sound like the pain I get but I know everyone feels it differently, my friend has the pain shooting down her leg.

The only thing that works for me (and has actually been life changing) is naproxen 500mg the day before my period and the first 2 days. I used to be sick and nearly pass out from the pain but now it’s still there but manageable.

@Chocolatecustardcreamsrule it's infuriating isn't it! Zapain works for me but also makes me go a bit funny, so I can't take it unless my husband is also around to watch the kids.
Mefanamic acid sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. But these new pains that started today are excruciating.

It's crazy how the symptoms really vary for each person too!
