Wet myself twice in a week in my sleep!

Help! I have no idea what’s going on. I had a very bad cough for a week that cleared up but week ago I wet myself in my sleep (tail end of illness) and now a week later, again!

I am not someone who gets up to wee at night, with both my kids in pregnancy I never had to get up at night. I am in my 30s so don’t think it’s age related.

Not sure what to do?! Has this happened to anyone else??

Getting checked for a UTI would be the first step. Very possible to have one with no other obvious symptoms.

You need to see a doctor, I would want to do this as soon as possible.

I just did a dip stick test and all looks fine. I do also have a connective tissue problem so that could not be helping here. Will go to the doctor.

When it happened a week ago I chalked it up to being tired and ill and a one off. I’m gutted, embarrassed and worried. :(

Will message them when they are open tomorrow.

This happened to me once when I was a bit younger, I had a UTI. No other symptoms so I didn’t know until I saw the doctor! Worth getting checked for sure

PurpleJam2234 · 12/10/2025 06:25

Thank you! I did a dip stick test and that was negative but I know it doesn’t show everything. Will message them tomorrow. X

I know it's natural to feel embarrassed, but it's a health issue not something you have a choice about.

You could see if 111 have any out of hours appointments. Possibly needing antibiotics is justification for an urgent appointment.

Coughing can weaken the pelvic floor so you have probably damaged it with coughing. I would speak with your GP and if that’s what it might be you could get some pelvic physio.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 12/10/2025 07:03

I did this. It did turn out to be UTI but didn't show up on a dip stick, only from the lab test

Yes I do see a women’s health physio anyway so will reach out!

This happened to me once and I think I had taken too much cold and flu medication and was in a super deep sleep… not my finest moment!

Ah interesting! How many times did it happen? Will message GP first thing!

When it was just once I chalked it up to a random event - tired, sick, etc but now I’m feeling anxious! 😥
