If it is as bad as you suggest, I would bring up whether she has PMDD to the GP. It is treated by a combination of the pill - which I would really recommend; she may need to try a few different ones first. The other main treatment is a low to medium dose of antidepressants from after ovulation to when her period starts again. I've attached some links which should be useful. Let me know if you have any questions.

I was absolutely psychotic around my periods from the age of 15. Tried starflower, evening primrose etc.
Got the pill and made life so much better.
In my early 20s the pill I was on was withdrawn and I was changed to another... housemates had to do an intervention because I could not control my mood.
Switched to another pill... smooth waters.
Hormonal intervention is needed for some of us.
Wishing you and your daughter well.

I was going to say pmdd too. My DD was in a horrible cycle from starting her periods. Two good weeks followed by two bad weeks. It was exhausting. She is now 22 and has the mirena coil which had really helped. She has a couple of bad days a month now but it is bearable and she knows it will pass.

Vitamin B6.
DH would annoyingly ask me if I was due on (because I was irritable etc) and then I'd know to take a B6 tablet. It was a game changer for DD too.
