I had a mirena fitted last week and after 2 days of light spotting have bled fairly heavily since. I have been using pads but really hate the sensation of them and would much rather use tampons.
Does anyone know when it us safe to do this? The guidance online is all over the place with some NHS trusts saying as little as 24 to 48 hours and others saying to wait until 6 weeks to 3 months. I think from what I have read it is more about the risk of pulling it out rather than infection?
Also I would really like a bath and to resume swimming. When is this safe?
I wasn't given any follow up guidance at all. Should I be asking for a 6 week check? I also see mention that I should be checking the strings but the gp who inserted it did not mention this at all.
