I have had panic disorder since I fell pregnant with my first born 4 years ago, unfortunately it has stuck with me since, so these attacks aren’t new to me and I do manage well to control them, however just now I have woken up from deep sleep with an awful and intense hot flush, to the point I really felt like I couldn’t cool myself down or breath which then caused me to panic resulting in a panic attack. I haven’t had a panic attack in a very long time, in fact I made my whole pregnancy with my now 8 week old with only 1 panic attack. Felt very proud of myself for making it so long without any after years of suffering from it, however this time round was very different and it’s totally thrown me off and I feel like they are creeping back.

I haven’t never had a hot flush like this before! I honestly felt like I was going to keep overheating and end up exploding, it was the worst thing I have ever felt. Was almost close to jumping in a freezing cold shower at 2am to try and cool myself down but I just went to get some ice packs instead and sat in front of the aircon unit which worked eventually.

I have just gone to the toilet and noticed that I have just had my first period since my daughter was born 8 weeks ago. Would this hot flush be result of the period, could it be from hormone changes from being pregnant or am I going through perimenopause???? I have never had a hot flush like this before so unsure on what’s caused it.
Also what is the best way to deal with them as it actually made me quite scared.
Just seeing if others can relate to this and tell me what causes their hot flushes, how to cope with them etc.

i would say estrogen played a big part in this.
time will tell if it's peri or something else, are you breast feeding?
congratulations on the new arrival.

Hey love, you’re panicking, right here, right now. Deep breathes lovely, we’ve got you

I need someone to help this woman, I am scared for her but I literally know nothing about her or more importantly I know nothing about childbirth or children.
I am so sorry, I might be being an idiot but I assume something like this has happened before in this forum.

I’ve been having hot flushes since giving birth to my firstborn 8 months ago. Sitting here burning up now. I think it’s the hormones from breast feeding/periods returning. I am in 40s but don’t think it’s peri. My feet are on fire right now (3am)! Women in my NCT class (varying ages)say they have same/similar. I’m hoping they go eventually… try not to worry (easier said than done I know) - hormones are all over the place after birth. They are less now than they were so hoping!
