42 and missing period

Hi,
im nearly 42 and my period hasn’t came this month, last night it was very light and I had some spotting through the month very unusual for me. It’s usually very heavy and never spots. I had a really bad uti mid month too. I’m also shedding a lot of hair. Is this the start of peri menopause? I’m 100% not pregnant even did a test incase a miracle occurred lol

Yes, probably!

You should go to GP for hormones tests. You are at increased risk of osteoporosis if you start before 45 so may need HRT

GPs don't do hormone tests for perimenopause, they treat symptoms not test results. Hormone testing for peri is unreliable as they fluctuate.

They do. I had them done a few months ago. Not particularly reliable though.

I got pregnant at 42.....
Maybe too early for a + test... Still had regular periods until 52...

I think if OP is 100% sure it would be because she’s not had sex recently or at least in the last month

Yes that would be the case I’m deffo not pregnant.. but just did a test as I knew if I rang a doc they would say have u done a test. I’m finished having kids… I have had a stressful few months, my mum has cancer but as I said this has been going on a few months so why would the stress only cause it now.

Build up of stress or because it’s been going on for months it’s not taking its toll on your body. I’m 38 and missed 1 period last month, I was going to go to the docs but then it came so I didn’t bother. Go to the doctors they can do bloods etc but I wouldn’t rule out stress it could be the cause
