D-mannose

I’ve been taking D-mannose after sex for the past year or so as I am prone to UTIs and they’re always caused by sex, until recently.

i thought it was a one off, but sadly I’ve now had 2 UTIs just for the fun of it.

d-mannose is bloody expensive. I’m looking for advice on how much to take if I’m taking it daily. I was planning on one dose every night before bed? (Although I’m always up for a wee anyway so does it matter what time?)

I use sweetcures brand, if that matters.

any advice welcome.

and just as an aside, hands kept clean, new underwear each day, shower daily, wash before sex, urinate straight after, DH instructed to wash hands too yada yada. I feel like I’m doing everything I can on that side of things.

in really want to avoid prophylactic antibiotics if I can.

thanks!

Make sure the initial infection has actually gone and it’s not become an embedded infection. NHS cultures are not reliable and can often miss this. I used a private company called digital microbiology to test the urine and found I did still have an infection. I’m now on long term, high dose antibiotics for the next year unfortunately.

Hiprex is an antiseptic medication and can be taken as a preventative instead of antibiotics if there is no infection present.
