2 bleeds between cycle

Hello, my period is due in 9 days and yesterday I had 2 bleeds, one in the morning and one just before bed. Both bleeds were heavy but then stopped after around 30 mins. The blood was bright red and looked more like blood from a cut rather than a period and both times I lost a mass within the bleeding. The mass from each bleed was bright red and had a flat surface on one side then a bubble like surface on the other and felt quite hard. I've never had anything like this before. I will go to the doctors tomorrow. Any ideas....?

Was it a blood clot? Does this normally happen or has it before? It could be lots of things, but definitely go to the GP as soon as you can because it needs investigation. You can ask for tranexamic acid if you have heavy bleeding.

Any chance you could be pregnant?

Thanks for your response. I usually get blood clots with my periods but these were different. I'm going to contact my GP tomorrow. I did have a ruptured ovarian cyst last year but other than a sharp pain, I didn't have any other symptoms.

No, I'm definitely not pregnant. Thanks for your response

Have you seen your GP yet? If its one that doesn't know your history, I'd mention the ruptured ovarian cyst last year just so theure aware.

No, I couldn't get an appointment today. I've to try again tomorrow. I will definitely mention it.

Yh if you have an online system do that perhaps today and then they'll look at it earlier and give you an appointment tomorrow. Also I find online better because I emphasise the detail and don't forget things as well but also call as early as you can. If you (hoping this doesn't happen) get an appointment tomorrow, then go online and find your local sexual health clinic and book an appointment with them (they often have same day appointments) and they often also have sexual health consultants as well. Hopefully you can see someone tomorrow.

That's great - what scan is it? Ultrasound (if so make sure its a transvaginal one and a pelvic one). Or is it an mri, ct etc?

Hi, it’s an abdominal and transvaginal one. It’s not until 16th Sept though.

Well hopefully it finds something or excludes something else. Let us know how it goes and when you get the report from it back.
