Hi all

I’ve previously posted this on the IVF board but didn’t get any responses so trying here.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this as I think it’s hormone/fertility related
I had a laparoscopy in December and after that, I had really itchy skin and started to get tiny spots on my body which disappeared a day or two later. Not painful, just itchy. They appeared mainly on my thighs, belly and upper arms. Spoke to a dermatologist and got a cream to relive itching but that was it. It seemed to go away a bit but not fully in the following months.

I had my egg collection at the end of May and the same thing as happened! I feel like a dermatologist will be useless but not sure how to deal with it. It really does seem to be related to people poking my ovaries with sharp objects.

It’s now August and I’ve had a similar flare-up. It seems to be related to my period. I’ve no idea how to get help.

Anyone had similar?

Yes, I used to get that each month. It was caused by a progesterone intolerance. The rash came on when I had progesterone surges as part of my normal cycle.

I've never had IVF or any kind of treatments for fertility issues. Just saying in case you're wondering if there's a connection between the medications and the rash experience.

@Ihatebeingsick thank you! That’s really interesting. I wonder how it’s connected to my laparoscopy and dye test in my fallopian tubes… maybe my hormones are out of whack?

Were you able to find anything to help?

I don't know how or if those things could have any relation. I don't really know a lot about IVF but I think some of the medications they give you contain hormones, so likely some progesterone somewhere in there? My understanding is that exposure to an external source of progesterone can sometime trigger progesterone sensitivity.

Have you heard of autoimmune progesterone dermatitis? A dermatologist thought I might have that but I suspect it's just a more generic progesterone intolerance.

What's helped me is a low inflammation diet. It's quite a bit of work but if I stray from it, I do tend to get rashes back. I find it worth the effort.

My rashes tended to come up around ovulation and my period.

I'm not saying that you have the same as me, but I think you're just after ideas so thought I'd offer my experience.
