What does hormone markers raised mean?

I haven’t had a period in three years, I put it down to the fact I still breastfeeding my 2 year old. I started to wonder if it was something else so just went to the doctors to speak to them. He suggested I get my bloods done and a scan on my ovaries. I got my bloods done last week and received a really vague text from my doctor this evening that said - one of your hormone markers was raised and needs further investigation. Please make an appointment to discuss this after you have your scan. What does this mean?? I have such bad health anxiety and now I’m just a worried mess. My scan isn’t booked until early September. What could this mean??

It could mean a few different things as will depend on which hormone is raised , how raised and where you were in your menstrual cycle when the bloods were taken. Hopefully the appt will clear things up a bit for you.

For me, my testosterone level was high and a scan of my ovaries shows multiple small cysts so I was diagnosed with PCOS.

Hi, the reason I went to the doctors was because i haven’t had a period in nearly 3 years. I put it down to the fact though that I’m breastfeeding still so didn’t really think anything of it. The text doesn’t say which hormone was raised or by how much. It was really vague. Obviously I googled it and have freaked myself out.

Contact your GP for a follow-up appointment so you can get more information as they won't specify on the phone or on a text. That way you don't spiral and can get some more speicifc answers on what they found and treatment going forward.
