Normal after mole removal?

Had a mole removed from my inner thigh Friday morning, all went fine, but am noticing this increased swelling and bruising. They said it should be minor and I wouldn't need pain relief but I feel its gone the opposite. The first pic is from this morning and the next this evening, so its getting 'worse' over time.

Ive had 4 moles removed including a wider excision, and none of them swelled up or bruised like this.

Might be worth getting seen tomorrow in case of infection?

I’d draw round the red area and see if it has got larger. I have also had several large moles removed and none looked like that after.

if the red area is larger in the morning I’d be off to a and e if gp won’t see you asap.

The bruising has definitely spread, I'll attach a photo from when the dressing was on, which I removed this morning as per guidance. Its quite sore, not hot though. The mole wasn't a large, just standard size really. Noticable swelling also. I think I'll get it checked by the GP tomorrow, thank you.

This is when it started bruising Friday evening. And then tonight's swelling.

Have you had an update, how is it looking today?

Sugarplumfairy34 · 04/08/2025 12:47

It looks the same. Not worse but equally no improvement. I spoke to the GP who said it looked normal following skin surgery and to take ibuprofen and it should settle within a week or two. I'll keep an eye on it :)

Great news, I am glad you have had that reassurance 👍
