When did your periods become irregular?

I’ve always had a shorter cycle. According to
my app the average is 26 days. According to me, 24-29 days is normal.

I’m on CD 31 and feel a bit like I’d get my period- grumpy, lazy, crampy. I’m 39 in a few weeks.

Could it be the start of peri?

I always had long irregular cycles, and mine became regular and closer together in peri.

When I was 40 my periods started getting less predictable - they could be early/late/long/short/heavy/light. I assumed this was the start of peri. But I'm now 51 and still having regular periods (still unpredictable in the ways mentioned above). So have I been in perimenopause for 11 years, or is the unpredictability just something that happens as you get older rather than a sign of the menopause? Who knows?!
