Shooting Pains/Mass in Left Breast

I’ve got an appointment with my GP tomorrow but could do with a handhold beforehand. I’m 41, very perimenopausal and started my period on Friday. Since Saturday, I’m having shooting pains in my left breast- the kind that take your breath away. Today in the shower, I didn’t feel a lump but a mass of glands (?) that feel very tender to the touch. My right breast feels different/normal. Is this something to worry about? There’s no changes to skin I can see, no puckered skin, discharge or inverted nipple.

I wouldn’t worry too much, I worked myself into a frenzy over something similar and it was all fine. Wait for tomorrow, they will probably refer you under the 2WW as I think they always do for any similar symptoms, but please try not to worry - it’s most likely something not scary Xxx

I had exactly the same symptoms went for a scan and it turns out I have very cystic breasts. They drained one big one and haven’t had any stabby pains since.

Hand holding with you, I am sure it will all be well and will more than likely be cysts ☺️

Hi all, just updating: I went to see the gp and after a quick examination, she referred me onto the breast clinic at hospital. Feeling really low. Life is really tough atm and this is not something I have the energy for right now.

Hi @patchworkronnie - was just browsing health threads and found yours. Hope you are ok. I agree with pps that it sounds like cysts, fingers crossed for you.

Yeah I had similar symptoms and it was a cyst. I have fibro cystic breasts, perhaps you have too? Although nobody on Mn can truly say, it’s worth remembering that the majority of women the breast clinic see have benign conditions.

I totally get how you feel, with a lot going on it’s like another mountain to climb. The staff at my breast clinic have always been so kind and so thorough. I’ve always had good clear information on the day.

Wishing you so well 💐
