Mooncup Suddenly Falling Out

scaredfriend · 28/07/2025 17:38

I’ve used a Mooncup for around 20 years now. I’ve had two vaginal deliveries (last one was 14 years ago) and I’m mid 40s.
The last few months, my Mooncup is not staying put for the first 2 days or so of my period. It gradually works its way down (but doesn’t fall out completely as the rim holds that last bit in my vagina but the stem and body of the cup are out). I’ve also had more leaks, even when the cup stays put and is far from full.
I’ve had this particular Mooncup for about 2 years. They usually last longer so I don’t think it’s the actual cup. More like something’s not right with my pelvic floor or vagina!
It’s quite annoying and rather uncomfortable to walk around with half a Mooncup hanging out of my nether regions. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a prolapse or something (I can’t feel anything too unusual down there)?

You need to see your GP.

You need to see your GP.

For what? Possible prolapse? It’s almost impossible to see a GP round here. There isn’t an option in the online form consultation thing for ‘Mooncup won’t stay in properly’.

I’m not a doctor so I can’t say. But this is clearly a huge change for you, so it’s best to be evaluated by a medical professional.

Do you give it a turn after insertion?

Do you give it a turn after insertion?

Yes - until it ‘inflates’.

I'm trying to think how I used mine, post menopausal now, it s been a while 😂 fold in half, insert and turn. They turning after it opens?

Maybe due to your age you're losing oestrogen so everything is getting thinner down there now so doesn't fit as well?
