Hysteroscopy pre-op assessment - what to expect?

Hi
I've got to have a hysteroscopy and the hospital has asked me to come in for a pre-op assessment with a nurse tomorrow. Does anyone know what that's likely to entail? Is it just weight and height for the anaesthetic (I'm having GA)? Or physical exam?

Medication check, height, weight, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, things like that. Better if BMI is at a healthy level.

Good to have it done under GA, I tried it with a local however was pretty painful, I know that some women are fine with local. What are you having checked out?

I'm not sure really. I had a bit of unusual bleeding. They've done ultrasound and MRI and all fine. Some slightly uneven endometrium. Seems a bit over the top to do a hysteroscopy too but I also need my Mirena replacing and the strings have disappeared so they need to do that. It was too painful when they tried without anaesthetic so they've offered me GA.
I've got a friend who had hysteroscopy without GA and she was quite traumatised. It's a bit barbaric the things they expect women to endure without anaesthetic!

Preassessment is to find out about medical problems/ medications (in particular ones that might need stopping)/ things that might make an anaesthetic more difficult (or that might mean a spinal anaesthetic might be better)/ any things that could be optimised before the surgery date/ think about whether any other investigations are needed. It’s also where they’ll probably give you fasting instructions and all that sort of jazz.

They advised me not to take my Ramipril high blood pressure medicine on the day of the hysteroscopy.

Thanks @Greybeardy
