Hi all was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a magnesium glycinate supplement? I'm struggling badly with insomnia and thought I'd give this a go. Thanks

I got nutrition geeks. Not sure if it helps getting to sleep but think I stay asleep longer.
Biggest notable effect is... It gets things moving first thing in the morning & do feel better for it.

Tbh I just take a cheap tablet from boots. I liked at some more expensive tablets and couldn't see a difference re active ingredient.

Another one for Nutrition Geeks, sleeping so much better

I’m not the best person to ask but the nutrition geeks one has done nothing for me in terms of sleep or digestion. I’m utterly miserable and sleep deprived it’s awful. Replying to see what others say as much as moan sorry

Try magnesium oil spray. I find this better than tablets for aiding sleep. It itches when applied for the first couple of days but then it doesn't.

Nutrition Geeks for sure

we have one from the local health store, capsules, also in powder form, mix with water, stir well, refreshing drink, quickly and easily absorbed.

I think it’s think its expensive but we feel better for it, no nignt cramps any more, aiding peaceful sleep.
It’s all by ‘Natures Plus’
We also have their “Gold” multivitamins.
You will be full of bounce after a couple of weeks of these mega vits!

I’ve not seen Nutrition Geeks, now about to check them out,
ingredients, results, stockist etc., thanks for the heads up.
Barefoot Nutrition too, thanks.

wordywitch · 21/07/2025 21:37

I use Barefoot Nutrition too, it’s good stuff.

I take Viridian high potency magnesium biglycinate - 2 tablets twice a day. It has helped with insomnia and energy levels. I also sometimes use magnesium lotion on my feet at night in addition and that is great too.

I found ‘your supplements’ magnesium glycinate really help me with sleep and anxiety. Recently moved to nutrition geeks magnesium, (as I wanted to try their ashwaganda- can also recommend!) initially gave me more ‘urgency’ with getting to the loo (I think as it has different types of magnesium and higher doses) but that has settled now. Found it really helpful in the evening to wind down/feel sleepy, although I’m getting lots of vivid crazy dreams that I’ve never had much of before!! I find when I take it if I wake in the night I can drift off again quite easily, whereas without I can lie for a couple of hours tossing and turning.

The evidence is weak, largely based on studies of migraine.

And anecdotally, 3 months of the Holland and Barrett ones have made no difference.
