Mini pill use postpartum

I have used the mini pill before having DD and experienced 6 weeks of constant bleeding from around week 2 of taking the pill. After that I had nothing for over a year!

I gave birth in March and GP put me back on Cerelle at my 6 week checkup, so I have now been on the pill for 11 weeks. I have had 2 what I thought were ‘normal periods’ during this time lasting 5-7 days, but now I’m on my 3rd ‘period’ which has been going for 2 weeks now with no signs of stopping.

Has anyone experienced a delayed onset of prolonged bleeding when taking the mini pill postpartum? I’m getting a bit worried, my smear is overdue as I was pregnant but have it booked in for the start of August! At this rate I’ll still be bleeding when the time comes 🙄

Yeah for a lot of women it takes months to settle down
probably a good 6 months minimum

I used the mini pill for quite a few years pre baby and after my first baby. After my second baby I went back on it and now have a bleed every month while on it. I have had some investigations and referrals but apparently this just happens to some people. It is a regular bleed just like a period so not very impressed.

Same . Bit annoyed as last time I took it properly (not the times I gave up after months of spotting) I only bled every 3 months but this time it’s like a regular period frequency wise .

So the ‘period’ lasted 16 days and now I’ve been lightly spotting every day since, mainly when I wipe ranging from light brown to light pink.

It’s not entirely bothersome but I’m worried it’s not normal, as I had a different reaction when I took Cerelle pre-baby. But then again, I suppose being 4-5 months postpartum my hormones could still be settling? I have no idea and I’m not a doctor but I would have assumed if I had a more serious issue, it would have presented in pregnancy as well.

How long did your spotting last for? I’m considering going the full 6 months, then if there’s no improvement asking to switch to the combined pill.

I can’t quite remember but I would recommend sticking it out for 6 months
