Lil-lets warning

I’ve just told both my teen girls they’ve not to use Lil-let’s tampons anymore and to stick with Tampax (or any other brand that uses the same sewn throughout string.)
I’m nearing the end of my bleed and had nicked one of the teen’s tampons after running out of my Tampax and when pulling it out, the cotton just ripped apart and left most inside (tmi - it was mostly dry so was difficult to remove). 30 years of menstruating and that’s never happened and it’s kind of scary that my kids could be risking TSS if it happens to them. What an awful design! I’m sticking with other brands because that shouldn’t be happening. Is it normal?

That happens occasionally with any brand.

I used Lilets for years and never had this happen.
I did move on to a cup. Maybe worth considering?

I’ve seen a few comments on Amazon reviews about them

Uppitywoman · 15/07/2025 15:03

I had it happen to me about 35 yrs ago and never used them after that. I’d been using sanitary towels and this my first experience with tampons. I changed to Tampax and all was fine.

Been using them for 40 years and never had that happen! I hate Tampax, they expand lengthways and you end up feeling like you've got a dildo inside you. Well that's my experience of them anyway.

I do have a Mooncup but to be honest it’s not for me. Okay when just chilling at home but my job is 12 hour shifts with one tiny cramped toilet cubicle for around 20 staff and the clients. (Yeah, illegal but that’s expensive private carehomes for you)

Really? I’ve never had it happen with Tampax. And not including my 3 pregnancies, it’s nearly 30 years of periods.

@Vintagenow the pearl tampax dont expand in length, just in width, so I always choose them instead of the regular ones

rainbowunicorn22 · 15/07/2025 16:55

both my mother and myself used Li-lets for years but if you are nearing the end of your period or have light flow, it can be hard to take them out. that is why when i am at the end i tended to use a pad or liner
