Tampon pain

I have the most ridiculously heavy periods. Have had polyps removed, fibroids taken out and last year an ablation that failed. I can’t survive without tampons because of the sheer amount of blood I lose. I use super plus and a nighttime pad together - plus period underwear because I’m scared of leakage.
The tampons are starting to become painful when I put them in and take them out, what else can I use? Didn’t get on with menstrual cups, a few times they flipped and the whole thing emptied down my leg. Being a woman is shit!!

Have you tried a menstrual cap (not cup)? I find it much easier and more comfortable than both cup and tampons.
