Anyone got experience of the period delay tablets?

I’ve lost 100lbs on Mounjaro and because of this my period has been a little up and down - a day early or late here or there. But this month it’s come three days early and I’m now due on bang in the middle of a holiday in a couple of months. I’m absolutely not dealing with that. Has anyone used these tablets and got any experience of them?

I’ve used them and they’re fine - period when it does come was a bit more painful than normal that’s the only thing.

I think I’d rather cope with that over a period on holiday 😅 although I am now considering a menstrual cup and period pants, because that seems a bit better…

I’ve used the pills 3 times and I’m about to use them again in two weeks. They do sometimes make people feel a little bit sick but I’ve been fine.

I’ve used them twice and it’s been fine. I will probably have to use them again for this years summer holiday. You can get them for £20 via boots online, our GP doesn’t prescribe anymore.

Period came about 3 days after I stopped taking them and was no different to my usual.

It’s definitely a decision to make! I’ve ordered a cup just to try out, because in general I think they’re probably a better option than pads and tampons

I’ve used them and they worked well. No side effects. I ordered them via an online pharmacy.

IIRC mounjaro can interfere with the absorption of the tablets...may be worth clarifying if that's been noticed to cause any problems if you do decide to use them.

Hilbil212001 · 12/07/2025 18:42

They’re absolutely fine with MJ I checked with my prescriber

useful to know (hopefully they'll get the BNF updated soon so we can stop worrying about it).

Oral contraceptives aren’t from a pregnancy perspective but norethisterone from a stopping period perspective is fine.

hinterkitten · 12/07/2025 18:58

I did last year- worked perfectly and no side effects or worse periods. Currently just finished them again in order to get my period (tomorrow or Monday likely) so that I don’t have it on our late July/early Aug holiday. I delay the cycle before the holiday one as while I’m taking the pills I have a bit of that heavy pre-period feeling. I got norethisterone online easily both times.

I use them as port of my HRT daily, no side effects.

Blingismything · 12/07/2025 19:08

They were great when I used them, no issues.

I know with oral contraceptives it can disrupt them for four weeks but I wasn’t sure if it was the same with this, as it delays stomach emptying

I’ve used them. Had the most horrendous period afterwards though

TheLighthouse23 · 13/07/2025 12:52

You’ve lost 100lb!! That’s incredible! Congratulations! 🙌 it’s a little less than what I weigh! Sorry I don’t have any advice about period tablets though. I’m just floored!! Well done!

TheLette · 13/07/2025 12:58

Try them before your next period to see if they work. Unfortunately Norethisterone gives me horrible side effects. I just tried Provera (an alternative) and also not ideal and didn't work, but my period came early which is sort of helpful.

The swimming period pants are excellent so all is not lost if it does come whilst you are away.
