Large bloods clots, endometrial thickening

I have been undergoing investigations because I seem to have endometrial thickening. I’m having a scan next week to keep an eye. I started my period yesterday and have just passed a blood clot that’s about 3 inches long. I don’t know whether to be worried about it or if it needs checking out before Monday. I can post a photo if necessary but it’s not pleasant!

Hi OP, what has your doctor said so far during this period of investigation? Did they say what they thought the cause was? What day is your scan next week? Is that your first one? If you're concerned you can ring 111. I've had a huge clot recently and I didn't rush to a&e but I am speaking to my gynaecologist and we will be doing further tests to find out what's going on.

Might be adenomyosis, which is thickening of the womb lining. Symptoms are very heavy bleeding, clotting and severe pain. It can also get worse with age or nearer peri menopause. How old are you?

The coil can help with the symptoms, although it didn't work for me. Hopefully the scan will reveal more but they might want to dona hysteroscopy and gave a swab of your womb lining for testing.

I have very heavy periods which got heavier with lots of large clots and it’s adenomyosis for me. I went on transaxemic acid which has helped reduce the bleeding and the clots, but does make me nauseous and dizzy.
