Peri and HRT Help

Hi all. I finally plucked up the courage to go to the dr about my laundry list of peri symptoms. Erratic periods, brain fog, anxiety, sleep issues, low mood. Etc etc. I’m 44.
He Has referred me for an ultrasound to check why the erratic periods (to give you an idea, nothing for 8 weeks, 2 periods in 3 weeks!). Some blood tests to check my hormones. I put it off and now was hoping to leave with a prescription and try and get back on top of my life again. Is this normal procedure or should I go back again???

I just spoke to one of the nurses on the phone and she prescribed HRT. Blood tests checking hormones is pointless as you still have hormones, they're just all over the place. I'd go back and ask to speak to someone else.

Agree with @THNG5 that hormonal blood tests are useless. Blood tests to check iron levels, thyroid function etc would be a good idea.

Erratic periods can be a symptom of peri, and along with your other symptoms and your age, i would have thought that a conversation about peri and HRT would have been the way to go. You could use the Balance app to track and record your symptoms for a few weeks, then go back and tell the GP (not ask) that you would like to start HRT, if that is what you do want
