Itchy tailbone

Hi,
I'm writing this as I’m just not sure what’s going on.

For the past few months I’ve had an itchy patch at the bottom of my tailbone only when I sit down leaning back. So if I’m sitting in a dining chair or office chair no problem, but when I’m leaning back on my tailbone, sitting on the sofa for example.

I spoke to the gp about this when I went about 6 weeks ago to discuss piles because I thought the two might be linked but she dismissed it completely but didn’t even any explanation for what could be causing it.

I’ve recently started to have a bit of soreness in my left bum cheek which again could be piles related/ anal fissure, to be honest I think I might have both but the drs seem so reluctant to do anything.

I also have piriformis syndrome for years on that same side with my hip muscles being quite tight.

just to add to it all I’ve just found out in pregnant for the second time so really do want an explanation for my symptoms although now may be harder to treat.

I’m planning on getting another gp appointment and don’t like to go in there and tell them what dr google says but I’m getting to the point where I might have to go in forearmed.

Any advice or similar experiences would be welcomed.

Is it sore in your bum crack or skin folds?

I am sorry you are dealing with so much and now pregnant with the health issues you have. Why is the dr not helping with the possible piles problem? She seems pretty darn useless tbh! Is the itchy patch a bit scabby and white? I ask this because I have psorasis and had some exactly there and it was so infuriating. It did go away and I just have a patch on my leg that never went away. It came on when I was stressed doing my GCSES many moons ago and I got some cream for it and have to use non bio for my skin and not too many scented things. Badedas shower gel works for me. It can feel worse sitting on a soft chair where your back is leaning right against the seat and a harder chair gives more support. If you are stressed, and dealing with pregnancy,, possible piles, your health condition and not feeling listened to is stressful. I hope a second opinion will be better for you than the first dr.

@simsbustinoutmimi Thanks for the response. Should have said, it’s my actual bum cheek tissue like internally feels sore. It’s a weird feeling that I can’t work out if muscular or tissue that’s irritated?! V strange. Should have said that the itchy patch at bottom of tailbone there is no sign of this on my skin - no rash, dry patch etc.

@OneBlossomBee

thanks for your reply. The dr did give me some laxitives and some ointment but the piles don’t go so I’m just constantly trying to manage them. She was quite dismissive really which makes you feel stupid. I was more annoyed she didn’t address the persistent itch at the bottom of my tailbone. Should have said that the itchy patch at bottom of tailbone there is no sign of this on my skin - no rash, dry patch etc. I’m wondering if it’s nerve based if it’s only when I sit in a certain position.

You shouldn't be left trying to manage them! They could become much worse and pregnancy is not going to help. I hope you get a better dr and they help you with sorting allthis out. I googled what you described and with piles you can get inflammation that can cause the itching and considerong where it is, I wouldn't rule out this might be the cause of your itching. I really do hope you can get better help especially now you are pregnant and congratulations btw.
