Hope someeone can help. Have had a discharge now for at least 2 months. Had all sorts of tests. All negative. What else could it be? I’m 47 could it be hormonal and can I get rid of it?

It could be aerobic vaginitis - a condition that isn't generally recognised in this country. Have a Google and see if that matches up with what you are experiencing?

Is it heavy? Consistency? Smell?

Thanks. Just googled and it mentioned group strep b under aerobic vaginitis. I actually tested positive for that after insististing on a 3rd round of tests. Had to fight for antibiotics as apparently it is a normal bacteria that doesn’t need treatment. Got penyccilin which did not clear it and then trimethoprim which gave a neg test result. According to the gp none of these cause a discharge? Discharge is yellow non sticky but not watery gp says no smell I think it does slighty. I’ve been advised to not use ph sensitive intimite washes and rinse with water but it makes me very self conscious. Although test result now negative the discharge is still there. Do you think it will just go away in time? Or what else can I try?

Have you had a Mirena fitted by any chance? Mirena can cause excess discharge and yellow can be due to a tiny tiny bit of blood according to my gynae

Hi @foreveryoung100 - hope you are doing ok. Strep B can indeed cause aerobic vaginitis if it overgrown compared to the bugs that should be there (lactobacillus). You may be better off with a topical treatment such as fluomizin that is sold to treat BV.

You may find my thread helpful.

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on.

Thank you so much! Never heard any of this before. I’ll try to see if GP or Bupa can help. I wonder if it would be worth me trying the fluomizin and probiotic cream after without any testing. Will update once I have an update.

Hi @DaphneeManners I actually do have an update, little embarrassing, but I will post here when I’m feeling more confident as it could help other women. Thank you for asking and thank you for your advice.

Hi
I am having the same issues. I just wonder if mine is hormonal - I have just started estrogen cream in the hope it might help. How are you doing now?
