Hi has anyone had this procedure? I was keen to get this done and now I’m reading about possible side effects and it is scaring me.

Nudging this as I would be interested in responses too…

I had it 2 days ago. Will update here when I know if it works or not.

Hope it works out, @foreveryoung100. Urinary incontinence is so debilitating! Im hoping to have this procedure done after a forceps delivery appears to have affected my sphincter muscle.

Hi just a little update. So far it seems fine but I guess I will only know once I see my gynaecologist for a checkup. Procedure was fine, pain not too much. Only the pain relief made me really really sick after so I had to just switch to paracetamol.

Can I ask- did you have the op for stress incontinence, ir was it general weakness?

Thats thé issue for me too. I’ll be really keen to hear about how it goes. Hope you’re not too sore now!

I was super aware of my bladder for the first two weeks, but more discomfort than pain. My biggest fear was ending up with a catheter which would be worse than stress incontinence as it is not as bad as permanent incontinence. I think it worked but I will only be able to tell if I have a non stop coughing spree or jump on a trampoline for instance. So far I have been avoiding any activity that will place pressure on the bladder.

Hi @foreveryoung100 how are you getting on now? I have finally got a date for my Bulkamid procedure and I'm so hopeful. As you can see from my username, this is the bane of my life at the moment!

Bladdermatter · 21/08/2025 21:28

@foreveryoung100 what side effects had you heard of by the way? Anything I've read has suggested there is just a small chance I'd temporary worsening of symtpoms or UTIs...nothing serious or long term.

Hi Im not sure it worked completely but I will have a follow up in October, probably with some testing to check the strength of pelvic floor muscles. I also need to get back to the exercise. As for side effects I read you can end up with a catheter for a while but its probably a one in a million chance. Good luck x

@foreveryoung100 Thank you for replying. Sorry to hear the results haven't been as good as expected. Hopefully they can provide some other solutions for you.

I’m not sure its not worked. But equally not sure there’s a big difference. Its mainly when I sneeze but its probably better than its been.
