Prednisolone, no period but cramps

Wondered if anyone else had had this.

I had 5 days of prednisolone, for asthmatic bronchitis, Mon to Fri last week.

Last Monday was day 21 in my cycle, and I had 1 day of bleeding (usual for me, due to the progesterone dip). Come this Monday, 2 weeks post ovulation, and I've not started my period, but have the cramps, back ache and irritability I would expect.

3 days late now, just taken a pregnancy test (negative with the first urine of the day). Had protected sex once during my fertile period.

Cycle is usually 28 days, bleed on day 21, then normal (heavy) period. Am in early 40s, no signs of perimenopause otherwise.

Any ideas? I've read prednisolone can delay or change women's menstrual cycles, but wondered if anyone had experience of this?

I had prednisolone 10 days once and it messed with my period it’s a powerful anti inflammatory and I think interrupted normal process. I had spotting but nothing else. The following period was a doozy.

Oh deep joy! Next period, I'll be on school camp.

Thank you, yes I'm hoping it's something like that. I've taken the steroids that delays your period, for a holiday in the past, and whilst I didn't bleed, I did have all the other normal period symptoms. Which is what this feels like.

I'll keep checking, might as well keep the pregnancy test manufacturers in business...
