Hi does everyone have pmdd? I struggle with a significant dip in my mood, dark thoughts, snappy, irritable, 2 weeks before my period comes. I’ve had heavy period all my life but now they’re so heavy. I’m 45 so could be perimenopause?

Yes, I think I do. Really really low mood to the point of being suicidal the week before my period. Anxiety also increases and I’m incredibly irritable & angry (I keep control of this, but honestly sometimes I could really smash things). Constantly feel like I might burst in to tears and could happily walk out and leave my husband and children forever.
And then I get my period.

I mentioned it to gp a few weeks ago and they didn’t seem interested and started me on sertraline which I couldn’t tolerate. I’ve had suicidal thoughts, get no pleasure from life. Cry it’s awful. I’m in my two week normal self phase now.

Antidepressants are a standard treatment for it, often only taken for 2 weeks between ovulation and period.

If you didn’t like sertraline there are others you could try.

Yes maybe I’ll go back to gp

I am also the same, very tearful and snappy, irritable. Maybe sleep will help try!
