Hi all,

For a week I felt some irritable in my vaginal area so I didnt wear knickers unless I went out which hasn't been much due to heat here in UK.
I never stay without knickers but this time I dont know why i did.

Then recently itchiness became more prominent there.

When I used to pee and clean myself with water down there I would notice the edge of labia lips felt really rough. So I felt that area bit more. My vagina feels so loose...like the hole or whatever runs up so much it never felt like that before.
And so thennnnn, I decided to look at my hooho.
I was mortified.

The edge of the labia lips have darkened completely. Not just the edge of lips but it feels like surrounding areas too. It has never been like that before. I'm scared my vagina is infected or something. I'm worried that because I dodnt wear knickers some infection must have happened there and now maybe infection reached my bloodstream. I'm so scared.
Also I used to become aroused easily during intimacy and now I dont get wet at all down there but thought that was just post partum changes in hormones. But I only realised this dryness since going without underwear so that worries me too now that what if I just dont get wet anymore. And it makes me feel like I dont want intimacy. It was never like that I was always getting frequent discharge even without arousal hence why I think I damaged my vagina.

I'm sorry if I sound so silly and got the anatomy wrong etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The not wearing knickers causing an infection that has reached your bloodstream is just silly.

How many weeks/months are you postpartum? Have you looked down there since before you gave birth? It could just be a normal looking postpartum vagina.

Make a GP appt about the itching. It's very likely it won't be anything serious and it will be easily resolved.

Could you be pregnant again , as tissues darken then ?

Get yourself some Canesten and use it while you wait for a GP appt.

what is your weight and diet like?

Darker, velvet like skin around genitals, underarms and the crease around your neck can be signs of high blood sugar. Frequent thrush or vaginal/vulva irritation can be a sign of high blood sugar. If you have other risk factors like a high BMI or a very carb/sugar heavy diet then I would recommend getting tested for diabetes with a HbA1C blood test.
