Have name changed for this as is far too much going on here. How to unpick?
Last week I had a sore left boob after a sporting event. It was an endurance type of event, involving riding horses. I might not (in hindsight) have worn the best bra for several hours of bouncing around. Horse also head butted me twice. I did not think much of the sore boob till I saw it was red and a bit angry looking 3 days later, and hard to the touch.
Went to the GP, she has referred me to 2ww breast clinic (which is good as I am in my 50s and despite asking every time I see my GP when I am likely to have my first mammogram I get the ‘don’t call us, we’ll call you’ talk. Apparently they are very busy and will get round to me.) She has described the boob as having a ping pong ball sized mass, and very urgent, likely cancer. She has also given me a course of strong antibiotics in case it is an infection. She also wondered if it could be a trauma-related (ie injury) swelling. But letter from breast clinic says ‘Suspected Cancer - urgent. Ping pong ball sized mass’ in big red letters.
I’ve taken the antibiotics, which she said were a strong course, and within 2 days swelling and pain in boob had gone…..and I now have thrush like I have never had before!
So far I have taken a flucozan capsule 3 days ago, a 3 day course of canesten internal cream, external canesten cream, oral live bacteria supplement, and just started using Multigyn Flora today. I have also had a shopping spree on the internet, and now have in my cupboard 3 more flucozan capsules, a canesten One pessary, and a bottle of Optibac bacteria supplement.
How worried should I be about the now non-painful or angry looking boob, and which of the above can I take to get rid of the thrush asap? I cannot ride the horse in this state, and need to keep it fit for more endurance events.
There’s a lot to unpack here, I realise. But until about a week ago I was rather carefree and feeling the fittest and wellest I’ve felt in years. Would very much like that to continue. Plus it’s my anniversary tomorrow and DH is now not going to get the Saturday morning he (and I!) were hoping for. Unless a miracle happens.
Thanks for reading so far, long posts annoy me, especially my own!
