I will try to summarise because I am very confused with what might be happening. Any insight would be much appreciated. I am a bit worried and my gp thinks I am neurotic !

I’ll start by saying it is normal for me to have no periods for over a year after having a baby and breastfeeding. My older children my cycles returned when they were 13 and 14 months. My third child DS is now 17 months and I haven’t had a period yet . I’ve been having mild cramps but no other symptoms.
It’s also relevant that I had a pelvic ultrasound post partum 1 year ago and it was normal.

It crossed my mind recently that maybe I should take a pregnancy test . We are not using contraceptives and would be open to another one. I took one last Wednesday and it was faint positive , took two on Thursday and they were both positive including a clear line on a frer. assumed I am pregnant on first ovulation.

I took another test on Friday and it was totally negative. Saturday and Sunday the same. Monday I went to the doctor and they did a hcg blood test which was negative . Less than 5. Doctor said it was not possible for it to be a loss as it wouldn’t have dropped that quickly. Said it must have been a false positive but three tests?! doctor implied most likely answer is a false or incorrectly done test and my cycles have not actually kicked in yet.
I am concerned because it’s now a week and a half from my negative test and I’ve had nothing. No bleeding, period of any kind.

I had an ultra sound and today was told there are calsifications in the uterus . Not to worry and I’ve been referred for gynae . GP said it’s absolute not related to the positive test and /or miscarriage which they are still saying I wasn’t pregnant to start with. Surely it could be related ? I’m a bit worried about retained loss . But I feel ok in myself . wait list for gynae appointment is ages as it’s not urgent hence why I’m asking here if anyone has any advice.

really appreciate any comments . I am worried but can’t put my finger on what’s going on!

not obgyn but spent enough time under them having 7 cycles of icsi.
I’m afraid I’d agree that the tests were likely false positives (or indents/evaps. Frer are awful. if you Google, the internet is full of pics) if HCG wasn’t detected on a blood test then they weren’t positive tests.
Why, out of curiosity, are you concerned about no period a week & a half on if you haven’t had one for 17 months, or have I misunderstood that bit?
Retained loss would mean HCG would likely still be detected, although not rise.
Calcification is a cause of infertility, but can be removed and may mean fertility is restored though.
I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your gynae appointment.

Thank you for your helpful reply :)
Advice varies but I was told that absence of period when still breastfeeding is largely normal , although 17m seems to be on the late side of normal . Doctor has ordered hormone blood test for me to check all that is normal.

In answer to your question I guess I was expecting a bleed of some sort as I assumed I was having a chemical pregnancy. I have always been led to believe that two pink lines is always positive and there is no such thing as a false positive. But this doctor says otherwise so maybe it was just a couple of very convincing evaps!

This was the test
