Very high oestradiol

Hi ladies, so I’ve been on HRT for over two years. My GP has been increased my dosage every 6months, and I’m now at 4 pumps.
For the last two months I’ve been feeling really unwell - extreme anxiety, mood swings, tiredness etc, so I went to the GP to check and have a blood test done. My oestradiol levels came back at 10783 pmol/L… that’s very high right? Annoyingly I have to wait for two weeks to see the GP again and discuss results, so I’m left wondering if I should just pause HRT until I talk to GP. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks very much!

That’s highly unlikely to be an accurate result. Could you have had some of your oestrogel at the site of where the blood was drawn? The GP will likely want to retest.

I checked previous tests and in 2024 it was 3560 pmol/L, which I think also high? I wonder if I’ve been over medicated …

Yes that previous result is also high. For reference, typical oestradiol level on HRT is in the region of 200-800. Anyway I would just sit tight and speak to the GP and go from there. Presumably you’re also taking progesterone? I wouldn’t stop your HRT anyway, best be guided by the doc.
