Is anyone on fluoxetine for pmdd ?
Dd has been told this may help and will be starting a low dose this weekend.
Any advise please as we are wondering about side effects and if anyone has seen an improvement in symptoms etc.
Thanks in advance.

Hiya I started on this for pmdd last year. It has changed my life. I was so poorly. I would literally have a huge mental breakdown each month before my period. I was having suicidal thoughts. I walked out on my job one day (never in my life have I done anything like that, or had any significant mental health problems). I was initially on it 14 days a month, but because my periods are a bit irregular the doctor moved me on to it daily and my symptoms have realy really reduced. The first 6 weeks I felt more anxious at times, but now I don’t get the same very severe anxiety anymore. Also they made me lose my appetite, and I have calmed down on binge eating behaviour since I’ve been on them (this was quite bad and I’m convinced it was related to pmdd). I feel normal now and am in no hurry to come off them.

@trixifirecracker
thank you so much for this.
Sadly after years of counselling and therapy for anxiety we have finally seen a wonderful doctor who straight away said what it is.
I Suffered terribly with my hormones until a complete hysterectomy and hrt so I’m so angry that I didn’t fully join the dots for her but it wasn’t a diagnosis years ago - I just had “bad periods “,it all makes complete sense now to both of us .
we are so hopeful for this treatment as she suffers so much with everything from tiredness,constipation, anxiety and the mood swings etc are so bad that she thought she was bipolar.
thanks again and I’m so glad that you are feeling better.
